Texas State athletic director Larry Teis announced the completion of the 2014 football schedule this week, along with home-and-home series with Houston and Tulsa.
The Tulsa series helped to complete the 2014 schedule, along with a contract to open the season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Bobcats will open their 2014 season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 30. A home-and-home with Tulsa will begin on Sept. 27 at Tulsa. The Bobcats will play Tulsa at home in 2018.
The 2014 schedule also includes non-conference games against Navy on Sept. 13 and Illinois on Sept. 20.
“I am glad our 2014 schedule is complete and it is another great one for us and our fans,” Teis said. “This schedule provides us national exposure by playing a Big 10 team in a major media market and one of the service academies at home. This will be the first time our football program has entertained Army, Air Force or Navy in San Marcos.”
Houston will return to the Texas State with games in Houston in 2015 and at Bobcat Stadium in 2016. The Bobcats haven’t played a home football game against Houston since 1948. The Bobcats played at Houston in 2010 and 2012.
“Houston is a major market for Texas State University,” Teis said. “We have many alumni and current students from the Houston area, as well as several current student athletes.”
Texas State also has almost completed its 2015 schedule, which includes a non-conference road game at Florida State and a non-conference home game against Southern Mississippi.
