Texas State’s volleyball team overcame a slow start Tuesday night to beat Sam Houston State, on the road, in three sets.

The Bobcats, now 5-0, prevailed by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-14.

Texas State trailed, 16-9, in the first set, but scored 11 points in a row to take control. The next two sets went down easily.

Amari Deardorff led Texas State with 11 kills. Caylin Mahoney led all players with 26 assists, while adding 10 digs. Sam Houston managed only a .072 hitting percentage, while the Bobcats hit .378.

This weekend, the Bobcats will play in the North Texas Invitational. Friday, they will play Northwestern State (10 a.m.) and Utah (2:30 p.m.). Saturday, they will play Prairie View A&M (9 a.m.) and North Texas (7:30 p.m.).
