A daily rundown of live entertainment in and around San Marcos tonight, compiled by Mercury Scene Editor Hap Mansfield and our content partners at San Marcos Tonight.
Tonight Triple Crown and the San Marcos Facial Hair Club are hosting a benefit for the Greater San Marcos Youth Council called Beards for Kids. If that isn’t charming enough what with the raffles and t-shirts, the music is great, too, and features Hognose, Superfoot, Buzz ‘n Bangs and Blue Kabuki. Over at Cheatham Street Warehouse the king of Tex-Mex music, Joe King Carrasco (pictured) will be showing folks why his royal title is no exaggeration. Carrasco is a dog lover (he has Jack Russells), which always appeals to our heart, and has originated charitable events to help homeless, abandoned and abused dogs. It is not his canine charities, however, that won him Entertainer of the Year Award by the Academy of Texas Music in March of this year. It’s his stunning mastery and mixing of a variety of genres including cumbia, salsa, reggae, and surf. His Latin slant on the polka will cure what ails ya. The music starts up at nine- vámonos!
