The San Marcos High School volleyball team began its season Tuesday night, losing its match in three sets to San Antonio Incarnate Word.

The Rattlers picked up steam in the third set, losing in, 25-21. However, Word dominated the last half of the first set and the entire second set. Word won the first set, 25-18, outscoring the Rattlers, 15-6, down the stretch. Word won the second set, 25-14.

The Rattlers now are 0-1, while Word is 1-0.

San Marcos continues the season this weekend at the 32-team Spikefest Tournament in Corpus Christi.
