The Manuel Álvarez Bravo exhibition will run at the Wittliff Collections through Dec. 1 (Wittliff Collections photo).


The Wittliff Collections at Texas State recently opened two new exhibitions drawn from their significant holdings of Mexico-focused photography.

Manuel Álvarez Bravo runs through Dec. 1. México lindo runs through Dec. 13.

A reception celebrating the two exhibitions will be held on Sept. 8 (3 p.m.) with a gallery talk by writer, curator, and former Austin Museum of Art director Elizabeth Ferrer titled, “Between Tradition and Modernity is a Bridge: The Photograph in Mexico.”

Admission to the exhibitions and reception/program is free.

The Wittliff Collections are on the seventh floor of the Alkek Library at Texas State.

Both the Manuel Álvarez Bravo and México lindo exhibitions were curated by Carla Ellard, curator of the Wittliff’s Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection.
