STAFF REPORT
The city’s transportation division recently completed repairs to streets in the Sunset Acre neighborhood in eastern San Marcos, part of a million-dollar annual program to rehab existing streets.
The project included drainage repairs, milling and overlaying of Ebony, Magnolia, Woodcrest, Candlelight, Oakdale, Hays, Parker, Patricia, and Lockwood Streets. The total project cost was $276,000.
The San Marcos City Council budgeted $920,000 for street maintenance this fiscal year, a 166 percent increase over the $345,000 appropriated for that purpose two years ago. The line-item is proposed to increase to $1.2 million for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.
“With the increased funding and support for street maintenance, residents will see an overall improvement of City streets in the next few years,” said Sabas Avila, the city’s Public Services assistant director.
The next street overlay project is San Antonio Street from Guadalupe Street to Harvey Street. Construction is expected to be complete by early next week. For information, call the transportation division of the Public Services department at 512-393-8036.

And it only took the better part of three decades to do.
Let’s not forget about Hopkins from Moore st. to Bishop, I don’t think my car can take much more abuse!
I’m pretty disappointed with the way they left Bishop Street. Parts of it look like a patchwork quilt, and it’s still a bumpy ride.
