Great fun, good food and fabulous music can be had today on the courthouse lawn in downtown San Marcos at Hays County Food Bank’s Foodstock starting at 1 p.m. The food bank is in dire need of non-perishable food items to help needy families make it through the summer months so bring some rice or pasta (and other non-perishable food) or your checkbook to help make summer the happy season it should be for all. There will be a dunking booth and rumor has it San Marcos Mayor Daniel Guerrero, among others, will good-naturedly take the plunge for a good cause. Food booths, art booths and a salsa eating competition are just a few of the fun things to enjoy. Check the Mercury’s calendar listing for a full line-up of Foodstock’s music. Tonight, racing and music fans take note that Randy Rogers will give a concert tonight at the Central Texas Speedway. The incomparable Monte Montgomery is at Cheatham Warehouse and if you missed the spirited Kabomba! at Foodstock you can see them later this evening at the Triple Crown. Ah! It’s good to be a San Marcan.
