Samantha Armbruster, an experienced marketing and events specialist, has joined the San Marcos Main Street team this month as the new the Main Street Program Manager.

Armbruster began her duties on June 3 and immediately participated in the Texas Historical Commission’s semi-annual Main Street training for new managers.

“Samantha’s knowledge and passion for San Marcos, combined with her experience, make her the perfect person for our Main Street Program.” said Matthew Lewis, the city’s Planning and Development Services director. “Look for big things to come with the positive changes downtown and the energy Samantha brings to downtown. She will be leading San Marcos into the future of a thriving downtown.”

She succeeds Kelly Franks who is retiring at the end of June after 25 years of guiding the Main Street Program. Program Assistant Barb Payne also plans to retire in mid-July.

San Marcos became an official Main Street City in 1986 to promote historic preservation and economic revitalization in the economic heart of the city.

Armbruster has been the owner/ trainer for Social Media Sisters, which has assisted organizations in social media and online/ offline marketing in California and Texas. She contracted with the City of San Marcos to assist with public outreach for the recently adopted comprehensive plan.

She serves as the communications chair for the Heritage Association of San Marcos, and on the “Making the Grade” messaging and ambassador team for the Greater San Marcos Partnership in support of San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District.

She has also been a fund raiser and worked in public relations with Parents and Friends in Fort Bragg, CA from 2009-2011 and worked for Keller Williams Realty International in Austin, Tx. From 2006-2008. She served on the Board of Directors of TXRD-Lonestar Rollergirls in Austin from 2004-2007, earning the distinction as the League’s MVP and Crowd Favorite for several years.

Armbruster is a 1998 graduate of San Marcos High School and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of West Florida in 2002. Majoring in management information systems with a minor in management, she was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll and was elected as a University Mentor.

“Getting this role in my home town is truly a dream come true,” Armbruster said. ”It’s an important time for our downtown as we see major improvements being accomplished, an exciting blend of businesses continually growing, and an ongoing commitment to preserve the heritage of our historic downtown.”
