Riley’s Tavern has assembled bands to play and items for auction in their benefit today for the family of Christina Brenes who lost everything they owned in a recent fire. While the family and pets are safe, their lives have been unhinged from the loss of home, pictures, clothes and, well, every material thing accumulated over the years. While it’s true that love and family are the most precious possessions, a pair of shoes and a place to sleep come in pretty close to second. You can make a difference today at Riley’s, which is sort of a gift to you, also, really: doin’ a good deed for folks in need.
“From the Ashes With Love” Benefit for the Christina Brenes Family @1 p.m.
@ Riley’s Tavern, 8894 FM 1102
Christina Brenes and her family lost all they had on the morning of May 15th. Their house burned to the ground. They got out with their pets and the clothes they were wearing at the time. In some cases, not even with any shoes on their feet. The bills of supporting a family of five didn’t leave enough in the monthly budget even for homeowners insurance. They house was paid for, but they lost everything and have no insurance to help them. Essentially, they are homeless and possession-less. On Sunday June 23rd, there will be music all day inside and out at the Legendary Riley’s Tavern to benefit the family. Amazing donations of great items and services will be auctioned. A variety of bands have donated their time to help out.
