The stretch of Old Bastrop Highway (CR 266) from Centerpoint Road to Posey Road will be cut down to one lane from June 17 through the end of August as Hays County builds improvements to the road.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane and flaggers will direct traffic flow. Hays County officials are advising drivers who do not live or do business on the road to use detours or expect delays.
The project is part of a highway improvement project to be funded by $207 in bond issues approved a 65.4 percent majority of Hays County voters in a 2008 election.
“We apologize for the inconvenience to our travelers, but the result will be wider lanes and shoulders when the project is complete, and traffic safety and mobility will be enhanced,” Hays County Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe (D-San Marcos) said.
County officials are recommending that drivers wishing to avoid delays use the IH-35 frontage roads between Centerpoint Road and Posey Rane.Email | Print
