Congressman Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio), who represents the 21st District of Texas, will be the guest for the Greater San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce “Eggs & Issues” breakfast on June 21.
The breakfast will take place at Quail Creek Country Club (7:30-9 a.m.). The early bird rate is $15 if the chamber receives an RSVP by 5 p.m. on June 17. After that, the rate becomes $25 per person.
Smith will update the chamber on legislative priorities for the 21st Congressional District and the 113th Congressional Session.
Smith serves as Chairman of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, which has jurisdiction over programs at NASA, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Science Foundation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The committee oversees agency budgets of $39 billion, where the primary focus is on research and development.
Smith continues to serve on the Judiciary Committee and the Homeland Security Committee. He is a former chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the Ethics Committee, making him the only current member of Congress to have chaired three committees.
