It seems that the athletic department at Texas State is always on the verge of a big move. On July 1, Texas State will officially make its second conference shift in as many years when it moves to the Sun Belt Conference from the Western Athletic Conference.
Along with that move, the court inside Texas State’s Strahan Coliseum will have a new look for the volleyball and basketball teams in 2013-14.
The sidelines on the court have been painted maroon with the words “Texas State” on both baselines of the court. Texas State’s “Rising Star” logo is in each corner.
Another standout feature is the large Bobcat head logo that is at center court with new Sun Belt Conference logos located inside each free throw line. The logo also extends to the baseline of the volleyball court.
The contractor for the project was Quality Hardwood Floors, Inc. of San Marcos.
In addition to the new logos, Texas State will have additional floor seating for its men’s basketball games during the 2013-14 season.
Texas State joins the Sun Belt Conference in July 2013 after being as a member of the WAC in 2012-13. The volleyball team will be the first Texas State team to utilize the newly designed court when it plays Lamar in the first round of the Delta Zeta Bobcat Classic on Aug. 30 at 11:30 a.m. The volleyball team will play its first Sun Belt Conference contest inside Strahan on Sept. 27 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
