The Texas State football team has put a Big Ten team on its schedule, and it figures to be a game they could win by then.
Athletic Director Larry Teis announced Wednesday that Texas State will play at Illinois on Sept. 20, 2014. Illinois were 2-10 overall and 0-8 in the league under first-year head coach Tim Beckman in 2012.
The Bobcats have never played at Illinois. They haven’t played a Big Ten team since they visited Minnesota on August 31, 2002, and they haven’t played in Illinois since they played at Illinois State in 2001.
Texas State is entering its first year in the Sun Belt Conference. In 2012, their first year of bowl-level football, the Bobcats beat a bowl-level team with their 30-13 win at Houston to start the season. The Bobcats finished 4-8, which exceeded general expectations.Email | Print
