A daily rundown of live entertainment in and around San Marcos tonight, compiled by Mercury Scene Editor Hap Mansfield and our content partners at San Marcos Tonight.
Tonight’s Best Bet
Today is the anniversary of the death of the great Bob Wills who died 38 years ago today and forever left his indelible mark on music. Thanks to Bob and his Texas Playboys we have Western Swing, possibly the most danceable music in the Western hemisphere (admittedly we are a tad prejudiced in his favor). A good way to spend the evening might be to stop by Gruene Hall and swing along with Bret Graham (pictured). His Bob Wills “yip” is as good as any around (maybe better) and he does Bob’s legacy proud. Bret’s “Honky Tonk Disorder” proves our point. The show tonight is free and starts at 7 p.m. And, of course, Bob Wills is still the king.
