The city of San Marcos Electric utility and transportation crews have responded to about 100 scattered electric outages and a few downed trees overnight and early Friday due to high winds, lightning strikes and thunderstorms that came through the area.

Several hundred San Marcos customers were affected by power outages caused by high winds and fallen tree limbs.

Transportation crews also worked overnight to remove several downed trees. By 10:30 a.m. Friday, electric outages had been reduced to about 20 with a few calls continuing to come in as customers discover outages.

Tom Taggart, the Public Services division executive director, said it may take until late afternoon Friday to restore power to all affected customers. Outages occurred in scattered areas across San Marcos, with a number concentrated in Castle Forest neighborhood and Craddock Avenue.
