Rain in Louisiana has extended the Texas State softball season for at least another day. But if the Bobcats still want to be alive on Saturday, they need a win today. Twice.

The Bobcats will play Louisiana Tech in the loser’s bracket of the Western Athletic Conference softball tournament in Ruston, LA (11:30 a.m.). The two teams were to meet Thursday, but the game was postponed because of rain.

The Bobcats lost their tournament opener Wednesday to Texas-San Antonio (UTSA), which beat them three times during the regular season in San Marcos. The Roadrunners posted five runs in the third inning and cruised to a 6-0 win.

Brooke Baker and Kelli Baker each had two of Texas State’s seven hits.

A victory for the Bobcats against Louisiana Tech would put them in the next round of the loser’s bracket later today against Texas-Arlington (UTA), which eliminated UTSA, 2-0, earlier today.
