Austin is notorious for its gridlock. Today, there will be a legitimate excuse.
Air Force One will fly into Austin Bergstrom International Airport at 12:15 p.m. and then make whirlwind tour of speeches and press conferences as he touts efforts to increase middle class jobs and job training.
His official schedule released this morning by the White House contains no surprises: He will visit New Technology High School in Manor then the Applied Materials Inc. semiconductor plant on E. US 290. He’ll be out of here by 5:35 p.m. and arrive back in Washington in time to to speak to at the 25th Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner.
But press secretary Jay Carney told reporters earlier today that the president will make some unscheduled stops on his visit. Bottom line: Expect potentially major delays everywhere the president’s motorcade goes.
