Texas State swept the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) track and field athlete of the week awards as the Bobcats prepare for next week’s league outdoor meet.
The honors went to seniors Timothy Young and William Murray, both of whom reached personal records last weekend at the Bobcat Classic.
Young finished second overall and first among collegiate athletes in the 110-meter hurdles at the Bobcat Classic, puttiung up a time of 13.90. He set a new career best and new top time for the WAC this season. Young also ran the 100-meter dash, finishing fourth, but first among collegiate athletes with a time of 10.52, fifth in the WAC.
Murray finished first in the long jump with a distance of 7.49 meters (24 feet, seven inches), second farthest in the WAC and a personal best. He also ran the third leg of the men’s 4 x 400-meter relay, finishing second with a time of 3:10.91.
The two will team up to lead the Bobcats into the WAC Championships in Arlington May 8-11.Email | Print
