Cody Canada and The Departed

On Sunday, April 28, Texas Music Theater (120 East San Antonio Street) will host the 5th Annual Lone Star Music Awards. The doors open at 6 p.m., the cost of tickets on the day of the show is $10 for general admission, with a $5 minor upcharge.

The awards show will feature musical entertainment provided by a stellar lineup of talent including Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Rob Baird, Cody Canada and the Departed, Jason Eady and Courtney Patton, Shinyribs, and Six Market Blvd. Expect to hear plenty of George Jones tributes as all of music mourns his passing on April 26 of this year.

The awards, sponsored by the local distillery of Enchanted Rock Vodka and Rebecca Creek Whiskey, feature local musicians and some surprises but all nominees are full of Texas-sized talents. The voting took place online at the Lonestarmusic.com website where fans were encouraged to vote, one ballot per voter.

The originator of the awards is Lonestarmusic.com, the on-line music purveyor which also has a bricks and mortar store in San Marcos in addition to a successful website and magazine.
