For the second time during this outdoor track and field season, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) has named Texas State thrower Darian Brown as its Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
A sophomore from Killeen, Brown earned the honor for his performance at last weekend’s Texas State Invitational. He finished first among collegiate athletes and second overall in the shot put with a throw of 18.20 meters. That distance puts him atop the WAC.
Brown also competed in the hammer throw, recording a first place distance of 55.68 meters to put him second in the conference this year.
The thrower will look to lead the rest of the Bobcats in this weekend’s track meet, the Texas Invitational in Austin.
