The men’s golf team at Texas State made an impressive showing at the Jim West Intercollegiate at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, finishing fourth with a final round Tuesday of 293, its best round of the tournament.

The Bobcats finished with a three-round total of 894 for fourth place out of 11 teams. Vanderbilt won the tournament with 885, followed by Oral Roberts at 892, and Arkansas-Little Rock at 893.

Texas State lead golfer fought all day for the medalist honor and finished just one stroke off at 217, tied with Hunter Stewart of Vanderbilt. Sarosh Adi of Texas Christian, competing individually, and Bryce Emory of Northern Ilinois tied for the individual championship at 218.

Also for Texas State, Juan Carlos Benitez and Justin Newby each shot 223 to tie for 12th place, Torbjorn Johansen finished 37th at 231 and Luis Thiele finished 58th at 248.

The Bobcats will next compete in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships at the end of April.
