The Texas State softball team found the power during the weekend, scoring 21 runs in three home games against Louisiana Tech and winning two of the three games.
The Bobcats now have won four of their last six games, improving to 4-5 in the Western Athletic Conference and 9-28 overall. Louisiana Tech is 5-4 and 19-17.
Texas State lost the opener last Friday after holding a 6-1 lead through five innings. Louisiana Tech answered with five runs in the sixth to force extra innings. In the eighth inning, Louisiana Tech’s Erin Kipp homered against Texas State reliever Delia Saucedo, giving the Techsters a 7-6 win. The Bobcats needed only four hits to score their six runs, as Louisiana Tech pitching issued five walks. Courtney Harris led the Texas State hitters with two RBI.
The Bobcats came back to win the Friday nightcap, 7-3, as starting pitcher Ashley Wright allowed only one run through six innings. Haley Lemons and Anna Hernandez each had two hits for the Bobcats and Harris drove in two more runs.
An easy 8-3 win followed for Texas State on Saturday as Brooke Baker went three-for-three with three runs. Hernandez, Harris and Jordan Masek all kicked in with two RBI.
The Bobcats will play another three WAC games Friday and Saturday at Texas-Arlington.Email | Print
