Sunday morning quarterbacks who are less than thrilled with the outcome of Texas State Bobcat’s inaugural FBS season should not expect to see coach Dennis Franchione’s head on a spike, at least not anytime soon.

The Bobcats finished the season 4-8 overall and 2-4 in their first and only season in the Western Athletic Conference. The team moves this year to the Sun Belt Conference following the WAC’s disintegration.

“There’s a lot of building blocks that you’ve got to put in place. And you can’t do everything at once,” Trauth told the San Marcos Mercury this afternoon following a press conference announcing new basketball coach Danny Kaspar.

Specifically, she said Fran is “golden” going into his third season after returning to Texas State.

“He knows where we are going. Knowing what the destination can be very important as your do your planning and your building,” Trauth said.
