The Texas State women’s tennis team is 3-0 in the Western Athletic Conference after winning its second straight match Saturday, a 7-0 victory at Seattle.
The Bobcats are 6-5 overall this spring.
Texas State won all three doubles matches to start the day. Jessica Kahts and Melissa Hadad defeated Anna Lambert and Gabriella Weissman, 8-3, on the No. 1 court. Monica Pieratt and Berenice Van den Bergh won the No. 2 match, 8-5, over Sarah Lucas and Lindsey Newman. In the No. 3 match, Mariana Perez and Rachel Baldree won an 8-5 decision over Corinne Wurden and Kristen James.
The Bobcats also won all six singles matches. Jessica Kahts led the way with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Newman in the No. 1 match.
In the No. 2 match, Hadad defeated Lambert by the score of 6-3, 6-1, while Pieratt beat Weissman by the score of 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 match.
Baldree posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lucas, while Perez won her No. 5 match against Wurden by the same score. In addition Van den Bergh defeated Steffanie Morten, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 6 match.
Texas State returns home to play WAC conference matches against Texas-Arlington (UTA) and San Jose State at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The match versus UTA begins at 3 p.m. on March 28 and the San Jose State match starts at 10 a.m. on March 31.
