The Texas State softball team dropped its first three Western Athletic Conference (WAC) games during the weekend and, making it worse, all three losses were at Bobcat Field against backyard rival Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).
The Bobcats score only two runs in the three-game series. Texas State now is 5-25 overall and 0-3 in the WAC.
UTSA won the opener, 3-1. The Bobcats had four hits and collected five walks, but left 10 runners on base, despite not striking out even once during the game.
The second game, a 5-0 UTSA win, saw the Bobcats manage only four hits, two of them by Anna Hernandez. In the third game, UTSA posted another 3-1 win. Again, Texas State had only four hits.
The Bobcats will try it again on Tuesday night, when they go to Texas A&M.
