The Texas State basketball team completed its season last Friday with a 74-65 loss to New Mexico State in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.

The Bobcats trailed throughout the game. New Mexico State opened its lead from 24-22 to 37-25 with a 13-3 run ending with 3:30 left in the first half. Four different New Mexico State players scored during the run, but Bandja Sy scored six of his seven points for New Mexico State during that stretch. The Aggies built their lead to 16 points early in the second half and cruised in for the victory.

Joel Wright led the Bobcats with 17 points and 11 rebounds, finishing the season with his selection to the WAC All-Tournament team. Wright scored 75 points with 27 rebounds in the tournament, averages of 25 points and nine rebounds per game.

Sim Bhullar scored 14 points to lead New Mexico State, which now is 24-10 after winning the WAC Tournament and is headed into the NCAA Tournament.

The Bobcats finished their season at 12-22.
