The Texas State baseball team went to Oregon and faced two ranked teams this past week, coming out of it with no wins and five losses.
After losing all three games at No. 3 Oregon State last weekend, the Bobcats lost twice this week at No. 16 Oregon. It one of the games at Oregon, they had a chance. In the other game, they didn’t.
The Bobcats lost the opener at Oregon, 4-3, Tuesday. The Bobcats held a 3-2 lead going to the bottom of the sixth inning, but Oregon scored twice in the frame and hung on for the win.
Kevin Sah had three its for the Bobcats, including a triple. Texas State starter Mitchell Pitts (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs in six innings.
Wednesday night, Oregon pounded the Bobcats, 10-4. The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Oregon came back with two in the third and four in the fourth for a 6-3 lead.
Morgan Micken led Texas State with two hits. The Bobcats used seven pitchers in the game. Austen Williams (0-3) pitched two-thirds of the fourth inning and took the loss.
The Bobcats now are 5-12. They return to local competition this week with a three-game series at Bobcat Field against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Bobcats open the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) season next weekend at New Mexico.Email | Print
