Texas State scored in four different innings and six Bobcat pitchers combined for a seven-hit shutout in a 6-0 win against Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) Tuesday night at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats scored the only run they would need in the fourth inning, when Andrew Stumph singled in Cody Lovejoy. In the sixth, Ben McElroy came off the bench and hit a bases-loaded double for the Bobcats, driving in all three runners for a 5-0 lead.
Five Texas State relievers combined to allow only three UTSA hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. Covey Morrow, who came on in relief of Mitchell Pitts in the fourth inning, claimed the win and improved his record to 1-1.
Texas State now is 5-7, while UTSA fell to 9-4.
The Bobcats go on the road this weekend for three games at Oregon State.
