Texas State forward Joel Wright has won the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award for the second time this season.
The league announced the award on Monday.
The Bobcats played only one game last week, but they won it, going on the road to beat 3-24 Lamar, 74-61. Wright turned up an all-star performance, scoring 27 points with seven rebounds, six assists, four blocked shots, and two steals in the win.
Wright scored eight straight points for Texas State to end the first half of that game, highlighted by a dunk. He added an 11-0 scoring run late in the second half to record his eighth 20-point scoring game of the season.
Wright leads the league in scoring with an average of 17.6 points per game, and is ranked seventh in rebounding at 6.7 boards per game. He also ranks first in scoring in WAC games with 18.7 points per game.
