Wind gusts cause power outages



Strong gusty winds are causing sporadic power outages around San Marcos today as tree limbs short out lines.


Motorists are urged to drive with caution. The Electric Utility and Transportation Departments are responding to numerous calls about power outages and six reports of downed trees so far. One outage of traffic signals on Highway 80 at Clarewood has been repaired.

Wind gusts from 34 to 49 miles per hour have been reported in San Marcos today.

Residents can call in power outages or downed power lines to San Marcos Electric Utility at 512-393-8312 or 512-393-8313. All calls will be responded to, even if left in voice mail. Trees that have fallen in streets or public right-of-way may be reported to the Transportation Department at 512-393-8036.
