Ballet Folklórico

The Ballet Folklórico UT Pan American was founded in 1970 by Dr. Amilda Thomas, professor emeritus. Thomas’ vision of dance at UTPA laid the foundation for the success of the present day Ballet Folklórico and enabled dance at UTPA to grow past her retirement into a major/minor academic degreed program implemented in 2002. To knowledge, the Ballet Folklórico UT Pan American is the longest standing folkloric performing group in the nation.
