The San Marcos High School boys basketball team finished its regular season on a high note Tuesday, winning, 54-48, at New Braunfels Canyon.

The Rattlers finished their regular season 7-3 in District 25-5A and 18-14 overall. The Rattlers finished third in the district, one game behind Converse Judson and San Antonio Wagner, which both were 8-2 in the league.

San Marcos will begin the playoffs against either San Antonio Madison, San Antonio Reagan or San Antonio Churchill, which finished in a three-way tie for first place in District 26-5A at 9-3.

The Rattlers held only a 24-23 halfime lead at Canyon, then took better control of the game with an 18-11 third quarter.

Isaiah Brown led the Rattlers with 10 points, followed by Zack Miles with nine and Michael Hicks with eight. Canyon’s Levi Hidalgo led all scorers with 17 points.

Canyon finished its regular season 18-15 overall and 4-6 in the district, good enough for the district’s fourth-place playoff spot. The Cougars will play either Madison, Reagan or Churchill in the first round of the playoffs.
