Apparently down a bit after a disappointing loss at last-place New Braunfels four days earlier, the San Marcos High School girls basketball team ended its regular season Tuesday night with a lopsided loss at home.
Converse Judson, playing for a chance at the District 25-5A championship, hung a 47-15 loss on the Rattlers. Judson led, 20-4, at the first quarter break, and continued expanding its lead until it reached 32 after three quarters.
The Rattlers finish their season 9-23 overall and 3-7 in the district, where it tied with Smithson Valley for fourth place. However, Smithson Valley outscored the Rattlers, 98-92, in their head-to-head games, which they split.
Brianna Brown led the Rattlers with five points. La’Qeisha Brown of Judson led all scorers with 13 points.
Judson finished the regular season 9-1 and 24-9. The Rockets tied San Antonio Wagner for the district title, but outscored Wagner, 112-108, in their head-to-head games.
Girls season has not ended. They ended up in a tie with Smithson Valley for 4th place in district and they have a tie-breaker game on Saturday, February 9th at 12 noon at New Braunfels High School. Go Rattlers.
