20-year-old Austin man killed in early morning stabbing

San Marcos police are investigating an early Sunday stabbing in the Westover neighborhood that killed a 20-year-old Austin man.

Arthur Martinez, 20, was stabbed at a party in the 700 block of Allen Street, Sgt. Fred Wisener said. He was taken to Central Texas Medical Center where he died at about 1 a.m. today.

An autopsy will be performed at the Travis County Medical Examiners office. Because an investigation is ongoing, Wisener declined to say more about the incident.

  1. Sorry for the loss of life. Nobody deserves to go to a party and get stabbed.

    However, this address is an example of what is happing all over San Marcos. The duplex involved is owned by somebody in California. They probably have no idea what they bought and who they are renting to. But at their address – 704 Allen St – there was a party of over 300 people. Not everybody in this neighborhood are renters and not all are students. For many people, this is their home – not just students passing through.. A good reason to require landlords to have a local representative.
