The city of San Marcos will accept applications beginning Feb. 1 to March 4 for Community Development Block Grant funding.
The city will hold a application workshop for those interested in applying for CDBG funds at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15. The training will be held in conference room of the permit center, 630 E. Hopkins Street, behind the Municipal Building.
Applications are available in the Development Services Planning office on the second floor of the Municipal Building or they can be downloaded here.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides CDBG grant funds for projects in San Marcos sponsored by non-profit organizations and City departments that benefit low-to-moderate income residents. This is not an application for individuals to ask for personal financial assistance.
Eligible projects must satisfy national CDBG program objectives and address priority needs of housing, transportation, infrastructure improvements, public facilities, clearance, and public services. “Public services” are programs operated by a government or non-profit agency that benefit low-to-moderate income individuals.
Last year the city received $572,577 in community block grant funding; the federal government has not yet announced the funding for program year 2013 which begins Oct. 1.
