Another opponent shot lights out against the Texas State women’s basketball team Saturday, sending the Bobcats to their eighth loss in nine Western Athletic Conference games.

First-place Seattle shot 50 percent from the floor (27 of 54) to defeat Texas State, 70-58, at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats fell to 1-8 in the WAC and 7-11 overall, while Seattle is 8-1 and 11-7.

Texas State stayed with Seattle for the first eight minutes in a game that was tied, 20-20, with 7:43 left in the first half. But Seattle scored the next 11 points, maintained a 31-26 lead at halftime and extended that lead to 15 (60-45) with 5:53 left in the game.

Seattle’s Sylvia Shephard scored 24 points to lead all players, followed by teammate Kacie Sowel with 17 points. Diamond Ford scored 23 points for Texas State, followed by 15 points by Jasmine Baugus.

The Bobcats will play Thursday at New Mexico State (7:30 p.m.). The Aggies are 3-6 and 9-10.
