The San Marcos Rattlers still have first place in the District 25-5A boys basketball standings, but they no longer have it to themselves.

The Rattlers were done in on the road by San Antonio Wagner’s press in the second half Tuesday night and lost, 82-61. With the loss for the Rattlers, they are tied with Wagner and Converse Judson in first place at 3-1 in the district. The Rattlers now are 13-12 overall, while Wagner is 17-10.

San Marcos will complete the first half of its district season Friday night with a home game against New Braunfels Canyon (7 p.m.), which is 2-2 and 16-11.

The Rattlers were right there with Wagner at halftime, trailing only 33-32. But Wagner jumped on the Rattlers with a 19-9 third period, and extended that lead with a 29-21 fourth quarter.

Alex Frye led the Rattlers with 15 points, followed by Jarrett Henderson with 13 and Josh Coleman with 11. Wagner’s Dominic Guzman led all scorers with 16 points.
