Texas State’s track teams began their season last weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational. The women’s team finished sixth and the men’s team finished tenth out of 12 teams.

Texas State’s only winner was high jumper Danielle Candelaria, who won with a jump of 1.76 meters to edge Houston’s Khalysia Mayo and Cassie Wiley by 0.06 meters.

Logan Cunningham finished second in the men’s pole vault for Texas State after clearing 5.20 meters. Bobcat sophomore Seth Arnold was third with a clearance of 5.10 meters (16’ 8.75”). Anicka Newell and Hannah McWilliams tied for third place in the women’s pole vault for Texas State at 3.63 meters.

Texas A&M won both titles. The Aggie men scored 111.5 points, followed by Baylor (83) and Stephen F. Austin (67). The Texas State men scored 26 points. The Texas A&M women scored 145 points, followed by Baylor (108) an Houston (57). Texas State finished with 42 points.

The Bobcats will next compete at the Houston Indoor Invitational on Jan. 25-26.
