The Texas State women’s basketball team will shoot for its first win in the Western Athletic Conference  Saturday at Texas-Arlington.

The Bobcats are 0-5 in the WAC and 6-9 overall as they visit the Mavericks (1-3, 3-11) for a 6 p.m. tip.

Texas State lost its sixth straight game Wednesday at Louisiana Tech, 71-58. By the stat sheet, Texas State won the three-point shooting, turnovers and steals, but the Bobcats shot only 34.8 percent (23-for-66) and they were outrebounded, 52-34.

The Bobcats and Louisiana Tech each took about the same amount of shots in the first half, 33 by Texas State and 34 by Louisiana Tech. But the Bobcats made only ten of theirs, while Louisiana Tech made 16. Tech held a 39-25 lead at halftime.

Diamond Ford led the Bobcats and all scorers with 25 points to go with five rebounds. Erin Peoples scored 15 with seven rebounds for Texas State, while Ashley Ezeh added 12 points and nine rebounds. Kelia Shelton led Louisiana Tech with 18 points.
