The San Marcos City Council’s agenda this evening includes a public hearing and vote on the Cape’s Camp apartments and public park project. The project is proposed to be developed as a 306-unit, 1,000-bedroom student housing multifamily community at Interstate 35 and River Road. The proposal includes dedication of 20 acres, including Thompson’s Island, as parkland in addition to the area within the floodway.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board recommended denial of the park proposal on Oct. 16. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on Nov. 27 and recommended approval of the land use and zoning requests with conditions.
