Santa will arrive in a variety of vehicles each day throughout the Sights and Sounds of Christmas.

STAFF REPORT

For the 26th year, thousands of lights will welcome citizens to the San Marcos annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas at San Marcos Plaza Park, 401 East Hopkins St., from 5-11 p.m. Nov. 28-Dec. 1.

The event features a variety of activities for young and old including music, food, arts and crafts booths and carnival rides. The Town of Bethlehem feature will allow attendees to see what life was like at the time of the birth of Jesus and features costumed performers and real animals, including camels.

Santa will arrive for pictures and visits with the kids in a variety of vehicles each day. On November 28, Santa will come in by helicopter at 6:30 at the back of the park on the soccer fields. On November 29 he will roar in through the front gate at 6:30 p.m. on a Harley. November 30 has Santa riding in a classic car in a line of cars from Dick’s Classic Car Garage. Santa will come by riverboat on Nov. 31 at two bridge crossings in the park at 6:30 p.m.

Foods this year will include fried fish, turkey legs, Manske Rolls, biscuits made in a kettle over the fire, cotton candy, Mexican food, hamburgers, chicken tenders and, of course, barbecue.

Entertainment for the event will feature choirs, dancers and bands from area schools, Texas State’s Ballet Folklorico, the Heart of Texas Chorus, Dalton Phillips and Julianna Reel, The Invincible Czars, Ashleigh Stone and much more. A full listing appears below.

Nightly admission is $4 for adults; children 12 and younger are admitted free of charge. Presale four-day wristbands are available for $6 at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins, and the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 401 E. Hopkins. Wristband will also be available at the gate for $7.
