STAFF REPORT

A 22-year old woman died from injuries suffered in a single-car wreck after a San Marcos police officer discovered her car in a ditch at Texas 123 and DeZavala Drive at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday.

Sarah Louise Campbell, of San Marcos, was unresponsive when officer Tony Scott, discovered her vehicle on its side, off the roadway, and just past the intersection.

Scott called for ambulance and fire responders. Campbell was transported to Central Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the vehicle left the roadway before DeZavala Drive, struck a traffic light pole, and continued southbound where it struck a concrete culvert off the roadway. The collision caused the car to go airborne and then to fall on its side.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated. This is the 11th traffic fatality in San Marcos in 2012.
