Residents were notified through the media, on city of San Marcos cable stations on Grande (channel 16) and Time Warner (channel 10), on the city website and by email.
 
Residents  may sign up for email notifications, including calendar events, news and emergency notices, on the “e-Notify Me” page at http://www.sanmarcostx.gov/enotify.

We live in the affected area, and never received any notification from the town. We heard about the advisory second hand, many hours after it was issued.

The water main break happen yesterday and was fixed around 5pm.
You might want to drain your hot water heater. It will get rid of alot of the sediment build up inside of it.
