Police plan procession for officer who died from cancer

Law enforcement agents will form a funeral procession through San Marcos on Monday to bid farewell to former police officer Emilio Gonzales Jr., who died this week from complications of osteosarcoma cancer.

The procession will leave Thomason Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m., traveling down Old Ranch Road 12 then Hopkins Street to St. John’s Catholic Church for a celebration of Mass of Christian Burial. At 11:30 a.m. following the service, the procession will return by way of Hopkins Street to the San Marcos City Cemetery on Old Ranch Road 12.

The tribute will close intersections to cross traffic along the procession route.

The family will receive friends 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Thomason Funeral Home with a rosary be recited at 7 p.m. Final mass is at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22.
