Emilio Gonzales Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Oct. 15, due to complications of osteosarcoma cancer.

Gonzales was born November 4, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas to Gonzales Gonzales Sr. and Julia Perez Gonzales. He graduate in 1987 from St. Gerard’s Catholic School where he played football and won a high school state championship ring.

From March 1990 through January 2000 Gonzales served as a Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy. In January 2000, he became a San Marcos police officer where he served in many capacities including patrol, bicycle unit, back ground investigator, school resource officer and community service liaison.

He believed in being active within the community he served by creating and actively participating in the annual Easter egg hunt, Halloween candy give away at the outlet mall, drawing for a bicycle give away for perfect attendance to school students and the Blue Santa Program.

Gonzales began his family life when he met his wife Theresa (Terri) and stepson Jeremie Scott Collier. Jeremie and Emillio instantly began being father and son. Together they have many special memories from deep sea fishing, football, golf and one special hunting trip.

Then came Gonzales’s true love of his life, his daughter, Sarah Nichole who was born on his birthday in 2004. Some say that Gonzales gained a little shadow as the two were inseparable. She campaigned for city elections, she played Blue Santa’s Elf right next to her daddy, both enjoyed fishing at the coast, playing golf and were active with the Sunshine Kids annual trip to San Marcos.

Gonzales is survived by his parents, wife, children, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

The family will receive friends 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, October 21 at Thomason Funeral Home with a rosary be recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 22 at St. John Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.
