Nearly 100 teams competed in the Hill Country State Championship BBQ & Chili Cookoff this weekend in San Marcos, according to event chair Richard Anzaldua. The championship is sanctioned by the Lonestar Barbecue Society as a qualifying competition for other events around the state. The Hill Country cook off his hosted by San Marcos-based Chapter 4876 of the League of United Latin American Citizens.
