Quick action stops Hopkins Street fire from spreading

San Marcos firefighters douse a structure fire at 1134 W. Hopkins St. Saturday morning. The fire destroyed a detached garage and two vehicles and caused an estimated $35,000 in property damage. Firefighters received the call at 6:40 a.m., arrived four minutes later, and had the fire under control by 7 a.m. Officials said quick action from San Marcos firefighters stopped the blaze before it could spread to the owner’s house or neighboring lots.     Way to go SMFD. On scene 4 minutes after the call was received is very impressive. Glad to know we have professionals out there to protect us in our time of need. Keep up the good work!
