SUBMITTED REPORT

The Women, Infants and Children office in San Marcos is now open in its new location at 401-C Broadway Street in the former Elections Office, next to the Hays County Health Department.

Clients and the public may call the WIC Program at their same number, 512-393-8040.  The toll free number is 800-324-4098.

WIC provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, breastfeeding support, and nutritional education to low income pregnant and postpartum women and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

The city of San Marcos manages WIC programs in four counties, including Hays, Caldwell, Comal, and Guadalupe Counties. Some 9,300 women and their children are served each month.  An agreement signed by both the City of San Marcos and Hays County allows the WIC Program to open an additional WIC clinic in Kyle at the Hays County Health Department building there.

WIC is an equal opportunity provider funded through the federal Women, Infants and Children’s program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

For information, call the WIC clinic at either of the numbers above, the administrative office at 512-393-8043, or toll free at 888-286-4486.
