The same conodition that exists for trucks and their mileage exists for cars. Once your head north of 55 or 60 your mileage will deteriorate and the polution will increase. Drive your car or pickup or SUV at 85 or even greater for those that always do and you will be filling up way more often and donating dollars to someone for allowing you access to such a road. Who in the heck is in that big a hurry to drive that road as short as it is to use the thing.

If you really want to get cars on the toll roads lower the darn prices. I was taking the toll from Buda to get to Cedar Creek but b/n burning more fuel (my own fault for going 80 mph) and the tolls I was eating my lunch. Stopped using the tollway and took 2001 & hwy21. Spent 15 more minutes in the car but saved a a lot of money.

In the past two days, we've seen I-35 shut down twice (yesterday south of San Marcos, and this morning in South Austin) due to truck accidents.

The state should be doing everything it can to encourage truck traffic on SH 130. But I suppose Cintas is rubbing its hands together with glee over these Biblical traffic snarls, because they only help its mission to draw motorists away from taxpayer-funded thoroughfares and onto their toll road.

Think about that, folks: Customers. For a highway. This is what we've come to.
