SUBMITTED REPORT

The San Marcos Board of Realtors has endorsed Mayor Daniel Guerrero and two San Marcos City Council incumbents seeking second terms, Ryan Thomason and Shane Scott.

The Board of Realtors issued this statement on Friday announcing its endorsements:

The San Marcos Area Board of Realtors (SMABOR) hosted the first debate of the election season on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the San Marcos Activity Center.

In attendance were candidates for Mayor: Daniel Guerrero and Thomas Prentice; candidates for Place 5: Melissa Derrick and Ryan Thomason; and candidates for Place 6: Gregory Frank and Shane Scott.

The questions posed to the candidates covered issues such as economic development, smart growth, and parkland issues. Following the debate, members of SMABOR who were present for the debate were asked to cast a vote for the candidate they thought best represented the mission of the organization. The SMABOR Governmental Affairs Committee considered the membership’s vote and the candidate debate responses, to put forth a recommendation to the SMABOR Board of Directors.

After careful consideration, SMABOR has endorsed Daniel Guerrero for Mayor, Ryan Thomason for Place 5, and Shane Scott for Place 6.

The San Marcos Area Board of Realtors thanks each of the candidates who participated in the debate for their time and dedication to San Marcos, as well as the Program and Governmental Affairs Committees for organizing the debate.

  2. aww isn’t that special, this year they decided “quick-like” i remember when Ryan was the moderator for those debates in 2008 and took forever to announce the winner w/subsequent $ support

Did anyone really expect anything different, given Ryan’s long association with SMABOR. It would have been pretty damning had they NOT endorsed him.

And Mr. Thomason, where were you last night for the CONA debate??? Very telling, no doubt! The incestuous relationship that exists between the realtors, developers and our elected officials has reached the end of its long tenure, I do pray. JLB :-)
